The Warriors are on an eight-game winning streak at home, while the Heat are on a three-game winning streak away from home: one of those streaks is about to end. The Golden State Warriors will end 2023 at home against the Miami Heat on Thursday at 10:00 p.m. ET at Chase Center. The Warriors are predicted to win (but not by much), so they must bring their A-game.
When the Warriors and Nuggets met in April, they lost a heartbreaker, and they left with a heavy heart on Monday. Golden State suffered a 120-114 defeat at the hands of Denver. The Warriors have had little success against the Nuggets recently, falling short the previous four times they’ve met.
Despite the loss, the Warriors were led by Brandin Podziemski, who had 13 points, nine rebounds, and six assists, and Andrew Wiggins, who had 22 points. With five steals, Podziemski set a new season high.
Meanwhile, Miami didn’t have much breathing room in their game against Philadelphia on Monday, but they still won 119-113.
The Heat relied on Bam Adebayo, who had a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds, and Jaime Jaquez Jr., who had a triple-double with 31 points and ten rebounds. Jaquez Jr. had 10 or more rebounds for the first time this season.
The setback decreased Golden State’s record to 15-15. Miami, on the other hand, has been on a run recently, winning four of their last five games to improve to 18-12 on the season.
Thursday’s game is shaping up to be a feisty affair: This season, the Warriors have averaged 47.4 rebounds per game, ranking first in the NBA in rebounds per game overall. But it’s a different story for the Heat, who are averaging only 41.4 rebounds per game. Given the Warriors’ significant edge in that area, the Heat must find a way to bridge the gap.
The Warriors were defeated 116-109 by the Heat in their previous meeting in November 2022. Will the Warriors fare better at home than on the road?
