Report for the Third Quarter
The Mavericks are back on the road and looking good. They hold a little advantage, presently leading the Warriors 101-89.
The Mavericks came into the game with added determination after suffering a loss the last time these two teams met. We’ll see if they can change the script or if it’s just more of the same.
What You Should Know
The Golden State Warriors will close out 2023 at Chase Center on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET against the Dallas Mavericks. Both teams lost their previous game, so they’ll be motivated to grab the ‘W’ this time.
The point spread favored the Warriors last Thursday, but the outcome did not. They were defeated by Miami 114-102. The Warriors have now taken a ‘L’ in consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Dallas also lost their last game, this time to Minnesota by a score of 118-110. The over/under was set at 228 points, so congratulations, oddsmakers; you were correct.
The loss, however, does not tell the entire tale, as other players played well. Tim Hardaway Jr., who scored 32 points, was one of the most active players. Dwight Powell, who had 12 points and 14 rebounds, was another major contributor.
Golden State’s loss snapped an eight-game winning streak at home and put the team to 15-16. Dallas’ record fell to 18-14 as a result of their defeat.
Saturday’s game is shaping up to be a rough affair: This season, the Warriors have averaged 47.3 rebounds per game, ranking first in the NBA in rebounds per game overall. But it’s a different story for the Mavericks, who are averaging only 42.1 rebounds per game. Given the Warriors’ significant edge in that area, the Mavericks must find a way to bridge the gap.
In their upcoming game, the Warriors are the favorites, with pundits predicting a 3.5-point victory. Watch out if you want to play the spread: Golden State is anticipated to win, but their 6-12 record against the spread isn’t exactly encouraging.
Odds

The oddsmakers had a solid feel for the line for this one, as the Warriors entered as a 4-point favorite.
The total is set at 241.5 points.
