It was the 31-year-old Clarkson’s 685th game of the regular season and his 728th game overall when he recorded the triple-double. Before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, he was selected by Washington with the 46th overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft. In 2019, he was dealt to the Cleveland Cavaliers and then relocated to the Jazz.

With 24 points, Simone Fontecchio led the Jazz. John Collins scored fifteen points, and Lauri Markkanen contributed seventeen. Walker Kessler scored 11 points, pulled down four rebounds, and set a team record for blocks.

Standing tall with 19 points, 14 assists, and 6 rebounds, Luke Doncic led the Mavericks. For Dallas, Jaden Hardy scored 17 points and drained five 3-pointers.

After missing 12 games due to a bruised heel, Kyrie Irving made his way back into the game and finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists as the Mavericks suffered their second defeat to the Jazz in their last eight encounters.

With 12 of Utah’s first 14 points coming from Fontecchio, the Jazz were off to a great start. In the first quarter, he scored five points, three of them were 3-pointers.

Fontecchio’s first-quarter baskets created the conditions for a 16–7 run that put the Jazz ahead 37–26 entering the second quarter. Utah’s surge was capped off by two points apiece from Kessler and Clarkson during a stretch of four consecutive possessions.

The Mavericks trimmed a 12-point deficit to 70-67 early in the third quarter after Derek Lively II dished to Hardy for a corner 3-pointer and followed with back-to-back baskets. The 9-0 Dallas run was halted by back-to-back dunks from Fontecchio and Markkanen.

The Jazz increased their lead to 97-79 early in the fourth quarter with a 16-4 run that saw them pull away for good. During the game-winning run, Clarkson assisted on five of the six baskets made by Utah.
