Following a hamstring injury to Tyrese Haliburton, the Pacers rally over the Celtics 133-131

The Indiana Pacers defeated the Boston Celtics 133-131 on Monday night despite All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton suffering a hamstring injury. Bennedict Mathurin scored 26 points, including the game-winning free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining.

During a drive in the second quarter, Haliburton slipped and did the splits, straining his left hamstring. Two teammates carried him to the locker room.

Just before the shot clock expired, Kristaps Porzingis fouled Mathurin during a three-point shot. Following review, the call was confirmed. Mathurin intentionally missed the third free shot after making the first two. Against the best club in the Eastern Conference, he shot 8 of 15 from the floor, including five 3-pointers, as Indiana split the two-game home series.

Without leading scorer Jayson Tatum, All-Star Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with a season-high 40 points on 17 of 26 shooting. In order to treat a left ankle sprain, the four-time All-Star rested. Against the Pacers on Saturday, Tatum, who averages 27.5 points, put up 38 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists.

At 132 with 3.2 seconds left in the game, officials called a foul on Hield, and Brown assumed he was going to the line for potentially game-winning free throws. However, a review nullified the call and gave the Pacers possession.
