Despite being one of the most well-known players in the world of basketball right now, Luka Doncic has a great deal of affection for his supporters.
After Slovenia and Italy’s thrilling 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup match on September 8, which happened to be Doncic’s final game before departing Manila, he left a Pinoy family with an amazing core memory that they would always treasure.
Prince Rivero and his spouse Lesley Martinez revealed on Instagram how their son received his TCL Player of the Game trophy from the 24-year-old forward for the Dallas Mavericks.
According to SPIN.ph, Rivero is a former PBA player who presently competes in the MPBL for Quezon.
The pair, who were big admirers of Doncic’s, said they were fortunate to see all three of his Slovenian national team games. They carried a large banner that said, “LUKA, we named our son after you,” with them at these games. They took their own Baby Luka to the third and final game, and they held a banner that said, “LUKA, I was named after you.”
It seems that Baby Luka is the grandson of comedian and actor Leo Martinez. “Binigay ni Luka Doncic ang trophy niya sa apo ko,” grinned the pleased grandfather in an Instagram story. He also tagged his grandson Luka Vicente Paolo Martinez Rivero’s account. On August 3, Baby Luka celebrated his first birthday.

The mother of baby Luka is Gina Valenciano Martinez, Gary Valenciano’s sister and Leo’s wife.
Kris Bernal, who gave birth less than a month ago, watches a Luka Doncic game.
Along with her husband Choi Perry, actress and recent mother Kris Bernal attended Doncic’s game at the SM Mall of Asia arena on September 6. It was Doncic who also inspired the name of their daughter.
“I had a miscarriage with Luka Doncic when I was pregnant. The actress wrote, “Our baby’s name, Hailee Lucca, was inspired by Luka Doncic.”

We couldn’t help but wonder what Pinoy couples will name their next child after Doncic’s gesture!
