The Nuggets did not draft Jokic with the expectation that he would be this good, according to Boogie.
Recently, Carmelo Anthony expressed his disapproval of the Denver Nuggets for letting Nikola Jokic wear number 15, calling it a small gesture and claiming the team intended to destroy his legacy.
Several NBA players, most recently DeMarcus Cousins, have voiced their opinions on the subject. The large man concurred with Anthony and revealed that, as a fan of the former great, he wore the same number while he was a member of the Sacramento Kings.
“The reason I wore No. 15 was because of Carmelo Anthony,” Cousins stated. “Carmelo Anthony was my favorite player growing up, and I’m a tremendous fan. I understand his point of view when he says that. In my opinion, it was primarily the dissolution of Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets. It’s documented. Everyone is aware. We know full well that the split was amicable.”
It was a small-minded move for them to pass the number on to the next individual. To their credit, though, none saw Jokic turn out this way.”
Opinions on the Nuggets handing Jokic Melo’s legendary number have been divided. The front desk might have recommended a different number for the Serbian center, according to Darth Amin, who made an appearance on the Cousins and Rachel Nichols show.
