9 years ago today, KLAY THOMPSON had one of the greatest quarters in NBA history without missing a single shot
On January 23, 2015, nine years ago today, the superstar of the Golden State Warriors defeated the Sacramento Kings 126-101 with 52 points from him.
But in this victory, Thompson scored 37 points in the third quarter, setting an NBA record for points in a quarter. It surpassed the previous record of 33 points shared by Carmelo Anthony and George Gervin.
The first half of the game went very predictably, but there was going to be a historic burst of scoring from an unlikely source that would rock the basketball world.
In a way that very few players in NBA history have ever experienced, Klay Thompson took off as the third quarter got underway. Thompson’s offensive onslaught in less than nine minutes of play left the Kings dumbfounded and the audience in disbelief. Thompson was able to find open shots and create space, leaving opponents helpless as he pounded down three-pointers with incredible accuracy.
