Klay recalls winning his 400th game with Steph and Draymond originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area.
Few trios in NBA history are as iconic and legendary as Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Stephen Curry, who led the Warriors to the pinnacle of basketball success.
Golden State defeated the Atlanta Hawks 134-112 on Wednesday at Chase Center, adding another accomplishment to an already impressive resume: they won their 400th game together. Thompson, Green, and Curry became the 13th combination to win 400 games together, a fact Thompson acknowledged in his postgame press conference.
Thompson told the media that he does not take playing alongside Curry and Green for granted.
“It’s very special, any time I’m on the court with those two I’m very grateful because I have friends in this league who tell me how lucky I am to play with my friends and experience that continuity of having teammates together for over a decade,” Thompson said in a statement. “And I never take it for granted being out there with no. 23 and no. 30 and I did not know that but that’s really cool to think about, that’s a lot of wins and hopefully many more to come.”
When Thompson, Curry, and Green start a game for the Warriors, the team has an outstanding 400-143 record, an incredible.736 winning % that excludes the trio’s 98 postseason victories. Aside from their on-court success, the three players have helped revive the Warriors organization by becoming the franchise’s faces and transforming Golden State into one of the world’s most recognizable brands.
There have been many challenges along the way, from bans to serious injuries, but the trio has persevered despite the ups and downs.
Each player is exceptional in their own right, and their combined accomplishments are absolutely impressive: six NBA Finals appearances, including five consecutive (2015-2019), four NBA titles, a total of 18 All-Star appearances, 13 All-NBA Team selections, and nine All-Defensive Team honors.
These Warriors are not satisfied to rest on their laurels, as Curry, Green, and Thompson aim to right the ship for the rest of the season and return Golden State to the playoffs.
