Nikola Jokic has had an unusually relaxing summer since winning his first NBA title. He returned to Serbia nearly immediately following the Denver Nuggets’ title parade and hasn’t been back since. The Finals MVP has generally remained under the radar and the few videos we do get usually show him simply enjoying his horses or partying like there’s no tomorrow in incredibly low-key settings.
We got an example of the latter type of video last night. Jokic seemed to have gone out to celebrate with the Serbian national team after they finished second in the FIBA World Cup despite his absence. All night, the large man was belting out lyrics and even pulled off his shirt. To top it all off, Novak Djokovic was also present, likely celebrating his historic exploits after winning the US Open last weekend.
Djokovic and the Serbian basketball team received a warm welcome from their native country earlier that evening.
That has to have been one hell of a party. It is apparent that Jokic enjoys celebrating his friends’ triumphs considerably more than his own. To put it another way, he is the best hype guy of all time. When it isn’t his party, he’s the center of attention. It’s difficult to avoid that designation when the shirt falls off during karaoke.
