Klay Thompson, the Golden State Warriors standout shooting guard, apparently likes to do his pregame cardio on the way to the arena.
Thompson rode up to the Warriors’ Rivals Week thriller versus the Los Angeles Lakers at Chase Center on a cool new Santa Cruz e-bike, which he was anxious to show off.
The Warriors eventually lost the game in double overtime, although Klay did score 24 points. With those stats, perhaps he should ride his bike to work more frequently.
It was also fitting to see the Oakland star endorse another Bay Area staple, Santa Cruz, which, as the name says, is not far from the Warriors’ home stadium. Who knows, maybe instead of going into broadcasting when he retires, Klay may try his hand at mountain bike racing. I bet he’d do well at several Crankworx races.
Klay isn’t the only NBA star to profess an interest in biking; Reggie Miller is an active rider these days, and Shaq also has some very nice bikes. Perhaps this is the future of mountain biking: the preferred leisure sport of former NBA players.
