Steph Curry received his tenth NBA All-Star selection when the league announced on Thursday that the Warriors superstar will be one of the Western Conference’s reserves for the midseason showcase.
It will be the first time in Curry’s NBA career that he is not in the starting lineup for an All-Star game to which he was named, having been on the floor for the opening tip in his prior nine choices.
Curry is averaging 27.5 points per game in the NBA’s 2023-24 season, shooting 40.9 percent from distance and leading the league in 3-pointers made (195).
Despite Curry’s outstanding season, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Mavericks guard Luka Dončić were chosen above the two-time MVP for the Western Conference’s starting lineup.
Curry expressed gratitude to Gilgeous-Alexander and Dončić for their successful seasons after being left out of the starting lineup.
“Those two guys are playing amazing; they deserve it,” Curry told reporters last week.
Curry now joins Hall of Famer Paul Arizin as the only Warriors players to have been selected to 10 All-Star games.
In addition to being chosen an All-great reserve, Curry’s itinerary in Indianapolis will include a one-of-a-kind 3-point shootout against WNBA great Sabrina Ionescu at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
