According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Celtics’ Jaylen Brown, the Osceola Magic’ Mac McClung (G-League), the Heat’s Jaime Jaquez Jr., and the Knicks’ Jacob Toppin are the “likely” contestants for the 2024 Slam Dunk Contest.
McClung has won this event in the past.
It is possible that a member of the Boston Celtics may participate in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 2024.
Jaylen Brown is reportedly “seriously considering” participating in the All-Star Weekend tournament, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic. The All-Star Game will be played in Indiana by the seasoned winger for the third time.
See Charania’s whole report here:
“Sources tell me Boston Celtics All-NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown is seriously considering participating in the Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend this month,” Charania said. “Later this week, the league will announce the full list of participants for All-Star Saturday night, and Brown has been mulling over the possibility for several weeks and appears to be very much in play.”
Adding Brown will surely liven up the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, which has been lacking in energy as of late. At 27 years old, he is among the NBA’s most athletic wings. Ask Clint Capela of the Atlanta Hawks or Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves, two of his players featured on posters this season:
After Gerald Green won the dunk contest in 2007, Brown would be the first Celtics player to participate. The C’s also had one Ricky Davis (2000), one Dee Brown (1999), and one Greg Minor (1996).
The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game takes place on Friday, February 16, to kick off the All-Star festivities. On Saturday, there will be the Slam Dunk Contest and the 3-Point Contest. On Sunday, at 8 p.m. ET, there will be the 2024 All-Star Game.
