During All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic displayed their bromance to the fullest. For example, during Saturday’s media availability, Jokic snuck up behind Doncic and poured water down his hoodie.
So that lasted all weekend. Then, following the All-Star Game, Jokic was questioned in Serbian about collaborating with Doncic and joked, “If Luka gets pissed off in Dallas, he can come.”
Humor doesn’t always work well on social media — and there are always individuals eager to start a fire for hits — but Jokic is joking. You can see Jokic’s smirk at the end, and anyone who has seen his interviews in recent years is familiar with his sense of humor
Are there people around the league looking for evidence that Doncic wants to leave Dallas? Yes, but that is true for every superstar (see the hoopla around LeBron James during All-Star Weekend). Would Denver be interested if Doncic attempted to force his way out of Dallas? Sure. As would 28 other teams. Will any of this happen? No. While one should never say never when it comes to NBA player movement, this would be as close to never as possible (Denver would have to extend Jamal Murray and then sign-and-trade him with picks and young players to get Dallas to consider it, and other teams would have better trade packages).
Allow Jokic and Doncic to have fun, make jokes, and enjoy life. That is what All-Star Weekend is all about.
