SAN FRANCISCO— Nikola Jokic scored 32 points, 16 rebounds, and 16 assists for his third consecutive triple-double and 18th of the season after sealing the previous game with a huge buzzer-beating shot against Golden State, guiding the reigning champion Denver Nuggets to a 119-103 victory Sunday night.
Jokic struck a Stephen Curry-like 40-footer as Denver rallied for a 130-127 triumph at Chase Centre on January 4, and then swept the four-game season series. On Sunday, Jokic went 13 for 24 for his 122nd career regular-season triple-double.
Klay Thompson scored 23 points in the first half, and Curry recovered from a sluggish start, missing his first seven 3-point attempts before finishing with 20 points, all but four coming in the second half. He made his single three-pointer with 3:26 remaining in the third quarter, finishing 1-for-10 from deep. The two-time MVP surpassed Dwyane Wade (23,165) for 32nd place and Adrian Dantley (23,177) for 31st on the NBA scoring list.
Jamal Murray scored 27 points and Aaron Gordon 17 in the Nuggets’ seventh consecutive win over the Warriors, their tenth in a row, and their fifth on Golden State’s home court since a 113-102 loss on March 10, 2022.
Down 65-61 following Curry’s driving layup at 10:30 in the third, the Nuggets responded with another 14-0 run to lead 75-65. Jokic made successive layups before Murray hit five in a row. They also finished the first half on a 14-0 run over the final 2:47, tying the score at 61 going into halftime.
Thompson made 5 of his first 7 shots and 4 of 6 3-pointers, totaling 23 points by halftime on 7-for-12 shooting. With 4:51 left in the second quarter, he sat down for a rest and earned a strong standing ovation.
Jonathan Kuminga scored 19 points, while Andrew Wiggins made his first four shots on his way to 14. Golden State had won three straight and ten of twelve.
Draymond Green had seven points, five rebounds, and four assists in his first game against Denver this season after missing the previous three — two while serving separate suspensions and the first on November 8 for personal reasons.
