Draymond Green has had his fair share of clashes with Nikola Jokic, both in the regular season and in the playoffs. However, Jokic isn’t the same player he was when Green played him in the 2022 playoffs; Green witnessed this firsthand on Sunday.
After the Nuggets defeated the Warriors on Sunday night, Draymond Green discussed how difficult his battle with the two-time MVP was. Jokic scored 32 points, 16 assists, 16 rebounds, and four steals against Green on Thursday night, shooting 54/33/100.
“I’ve had my fair share of good matchups against Joker, I’ve given him a little bit of hell on some nights, but he gave me total and complete hell tonight,” Green stated during an appearance on The Draymond Green Show. “I had no answers.” I’m just going to joke about it because you can either laugh or cry. “I’m going to laugh about it because I had no answers tonight.”
Green couldn’t comprehend Jokic’s incredible endurance. Nikola Jokic is in substantially better form now than he was in his early career, and Green noticed it himself.
“He was brilliant,” Green explained. “He’s in incredible shape; you should have seen this man run the floor.” I had to turn on my burners a few times to keep up with him sprinting across the floor. He wasn’t tired; he just kept going. Man, shout out to the Joker. It’s always great to play against him.”
Nikola Jokic was once treated disrespectfully by his peers and analysts. Everyone is now willing to accept that he is the league’s greatest player and, possibly, the most difficult opponent to face.
