Dallas Mavericks update: Kyrie Irving is expected to sign a new shoe contract

Kyrie Irving, the guard for the Dallas Mavericks, revealed details about his approaching NBA free agency plans and his ambitions for the sneaker industry on Instagram Live on Wednesday afternoon.

 

Irving had a lengthy history of being an athlete for Nike, but on December 5, 2022, the brand ended their agreement with him when he shared a link to anti-Semitic content. Even though there was going to be a new shoe deal, he still wearing his famous Nike Kyrie sneakers with tape over the insignia.

Thanks to reports from Brandon Robinson of Bally Sports, fans now know who Irving might sign with. The eight-time All-Star is reportedly interested in signing with Adidas and Puma.

During the season, there were rumours that he was going to sign with Li-Ning, but those have been squashed as Irving and his team have lost interest.

Irving stated on his Instagram Live that he will decide shortly which footwear manufacturer to contract with. It might be Puma, Adidas, or another unidentified business.

He could even create his own brand and surprise everyone.

After averaging 27 points and six assists in 20 games with the Dallas Mavericks, Irving is about to hit free agency. The fan base is eager for him to return because there were rumours that a “handshake deal” existed between Dallas and Irving before to the trade. However, nothing in the NBA is guaranteed. Dallas might decide not to give him a max contract because he will probably go where the big money is.

This summer, Irving is in complete control and free to sign with anybody he wants. He is Dallas’ top offseason objective, so they will be thrilled to keep him. It would be tragic if they lost him for nothing. If they lose him, trading for him will be seen as a mistake because they lost out on depth and significant draft capital.
