While Saturday night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets began with LeBron James’ chase of 40,000 career points, it quickly turned about the reigning NBA champs and their continuous domination over the Lakers.
The Nuggets, who have been unbeaten against the Lakers since last year’s Western Conference Finals rout, continued to dominate on Saturday night.
Speaking to reporters after the game, James gave an honest appraisal of Jokic and the Nuggets, saying, “They have five threats on the floor at once. And their most dangerous threat, the Joker, is capable of anything. That’s what makes it so tough.”
James added that there is no response for Jokic, which is correct. While different teams have attempted various coverages against the reigning Finals MVP, he has an answer for each of them. This is made possible by Jokic’s greatness, as well as the skill that the Nuggets have surrounding him with. Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., and other Nuggets players all complement Jokic well, which is critical to Denver’s success.
Every Lakers versus. Nuggets game appears to go the same way, with Los Angeles hanging tough but Denver pushing them away late with superior execution. The most recent matchup between Los Angeles and Denver was no different.
