CLEVELAND (AP) The Kelce brothers showed up for their own giveaway, cheered for the Cavs, and drank beer.
No, Taylor Swift was not with them.
Travis and Jason Kelce, both Cleveland natives, were in attendance Tuesday night as the Cavaliers honoured the NFL legends with a souvenir bobblehead picturing them in Cavs jerseys and holding basketballs.
The Cavs had a remarkable effort, rallying from 22 points behind in the fourth quarter to defeat the Boston Celtics 105-104 and halt the NBA’s longest winning streak this season, which stood at 11 games.
Travis Kelce stood in front of his courtside seat during Cleveland’s rally, waving his arms in an attempt to keep the crowd riled up.
“We had a blast,” Jason Kelce remarked in the corridor outside Cleveland’s dressing room.
The brothers arrived at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse shortly after 7 p.m., where they were led by a security detail to one of the arena’s VIP suites for some pregaming.
They soon proceeded downstairs and sat next to the scorer’s table, near Cleveland’s bench.
“They were talking to us the entire game,” Cavaliers guard Darius Garland stated. “I noticed Travis standing up. “He got the crowd going.”
During the first break of the first quarter, the Cavs awarded Jason, who retired from the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday after 13 seasons, with a framed No. 62 Jersey.
Following a video homage to Jason’s playing days at Cleveland Heights High School and in the NFL, Travis Kelce, Swift’s boyfriend and a great tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, proudly lifted his brother’s jersey above his head as the crowd screamed for the Pro Bowl centre, who was reduced to tears.
Jason Kelce was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt and drinking a beer when play resumed. During the second half, the Kelces chugged drinks in unison while being featured on the arena’s enormous video board.
Swift, who started dating Travis Kelce this season, had a valid reason for not being present. She is on tour in Singapore. Travis Kelce intended to join her there.
Beyond their football feats, the Kelces are well-known for their podcast, “New Heights,” which is named after their city.
