Nikola Jokic had two very important ladies by his side after making history with the Denver Nuggets and winning the franchise’s first NBA championship on June 12. Nikola played a key role in driving the squad to victory and was awarded MVP of the series against the Miami Heat. After the Nuggets won Game 5 94-89 to clinch the championship, Nikola’s wife, Natalija, and their 21-month-old daughter, Ognjena, joined him in celebration.
The NBA shared a video on Twitter of the adorable family of three posing with the Nuggets’ trophy and Nikola’s MVP trophy. Nikola and Natalija kissed their daughter, who stood between them and wore a Denver Nuggets t-shirt. At one point, she began tapping the trophy, and Nikola joined in, as if they were drumming together.
Natalija was in the audience with Ognjena before seeing her husband after the game, and she could be seen excitedly cheering on the Nuggets to victory. She looked stunning in her Denver Nuggets jersey, with her hair tied back into a ponytail for a sleek yet sporty finish.
While Nikola and Natalija, who are high school sweethearts, often keep their daughter out of the public glare, this was an important opportunity for her to be in the spotlight. The women were also present to cheer Nikola on as he led the Nuggets to the Western Conference Championship in May. He was also awarded MVP of the series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Nikola and Natalija have been together since 2013, and she came to the United States with him from Serbia for his NBA career. They married in a tiny ceremony during the COVID pandemic in 2020, despite their wedding was initially postponed. In September 2021, Natalija gave birth to Ognjena.
