Stephen Curry got injures at ankle in the second half in the game of Golden States Warriors and Chicago Bulls at Chase Center in San Francisco on March 8th, 2024.
In the game against the Chicago Bulls, DeMar DeRozan played a crucial role, scoring 33 points and making a key jumper with 43 seconds left. He later converted a three-point play with 26 seconds remaining, securing the victory for the Bulls. Coach Kerr praised DeRozan’s ability to close out games, highlighting his consistency over the past decade.
Klay Thompson also made a significant contribution, hitting a three-pointer to give the Warriors the lead with 40 seconds left. However, DeRozan responded once again, securing the win for the Bulls. Nikola Vucevic had an impressive performance for the Bulls with 33 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.
Curry left the game with 3:51 remaining, scoring 15 points, while Thompson finished with 25 points. Despite the efforts of Jonathan Kuminga, who scored 19 points, and Draymond Green, who recorded a triple-double with 11 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds, the Warriors couldn’t overcome the Bulls.
The game marked the Bulls’ first victory in Golden State since 2015, ending an eight-game losing streak on the Warriors’ home floor. Both teams were playing on the second night of back-to-back games, and the Warriors appeared fatigued after a strong performance against the Milwaukee Bucks the previous night.
Curry struggled early in the game, missing several three-point attempts and scoring only five points by halftime. However, he found his rhythm in the third quarter, connecting on a three-pointer with 9:35 remaining.
Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan confirmed before the game that assistant coach Chris Fleming would not face any disciplinary action from the league following an incident in the previous game against the Utah Jazz. During the final seconds of the Bulls’ 119-117 victory, Fleming made contact with John Collins. The Bulls had been in communication with the league office, and Donovan stated that there were no indications of any fines or suspensions for Fleming.
The altercation involving Fleming almost had consequences for the Bulls’ win. With 9.3 seconds remaining, DeMar DeRozan was double-teamed and fouled, leading to a heated moment. It appeared that Fleming tried to restrain Collins and pushed him away, which prompted Collins to confront the coach.
