Jason Kelce insists his enormous Irish Wolfhounds, Winnie and Baloo, are very loving and ‘very gentle’, despite towering above the 6-foot-3 NFL star… but warns that they ‘hate being away from their owners’

When a fan on social media asked Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce for advice on whether to get one, he gushed about his two big dogs.

Jason and Kylie Kelce’s family of five includes two Irish Wolfhounds, Winnie and Baloo, in addition to their three gorgeous daughters. The couple married in 2018.

In a previous photo published by the Eagles Centre, one of the wolfhounds is seen grabbing for a slice of pizza with its hind legs. The dog looms above Kelce, despite his 6-foot-3 stature.

Despite their gigantic size, Kelce claimed that the canine giants were very affectionate’ pets.

‘They are fantastic animals, totally adore mine,’ he said on X in answer to a fan asking for advice on whether or not to get one.

‘Very caring and connected to their humans. However, it is not suitable for everyone. If you travel frequently, have limited space, keep food on the counter, and have lovely furniture, they may not be for you.

He said, ‘Incredibly kind, loyal, beautiful lapdogs who despise being separated from their masters.’

The two canines even appeared in a Kelce family portrait last year, sporting reindeer antlers for the occasion.

Kylie remarked in a behind-the-scenes video of the Minted session that it was difficult to get the’smelly’ canines to pose for the portrait.

‘Team Kelce’s naughty list includes Baloo,’ Kylie said, telling crew members not to leave treats out for the dog to pilfer. “If we lose another loaf of bread to Baloo Kelce…”

Kelce added that their dog will ‘eat anything in sight.’

‘The veterinarians are like, “Hey, don’t give him chocolate.” We’re not giving him chocolate, he’s picking chocolate,’ the Philadelphia Eagles centre joked, with Kylie agreeing that it had earned Baloo the ‘bad’ title.

Kelce appears content with his wolfhounds running around the house, but he has no plans to extend the family’s pet population.

During an episode of his New Heights podcast with his brother Travis in December, Kylie tried to encourage her husband to become a cat lover.

Kylie and Travis even considered how they may work together to persuade Jason to add a feline to his Philadelphia house.

And I think you might enjoy cats now,’ she remarked, alluding to Travis’ friendship with Taylor Swift, who is known for her affinity for animals. The only thing that came up was, ‘Oh, are you sorry because you just lost a cat?’ he added. ‘Like, no, I have to lose a cat. I’m not concerned about losing it. I wanted to lose it, and I was astonished that there was no place to look out for good ways to accidentally lose a cat.
