Domantas Sabonis, a key player for the Sacramento Kings, has been having an exceptional season, setting records for double-doubles and triple-doubles. The Kings themselves are enjoying a successful season.
Sabonis’s impressive performances, particularly against the Los Angeles Lakers and his matchup against Anthony Davis, have attracted significant media and fan attention. There have been comments and discussions regarding this matchup.
During a post-game interview, Sabonis emphasized that neither he nor his team gives special attention to the Lakers or Davis. They view them as just another team and player to defeat to secure a win.
“We didn’t think about that,” said Sabonis after being asked about Sacramento’s regular-season sweep against the Lakers. It’s just another team on our calendar, and we got to get the wins. Now, we just have to think about the Knicks.”
Sabonis also expressed frustration regarding the constant focus on his matchup with Anthony Davis.
“I ignore that. The more you guys bring attention to that, it makes my life harder,” he noted, underlining that Davis becomes increasingly more motivated against him. “If anything, it will light a fire under him, so stop mentioning anything, please,” he said jokingly.
Sabonis recorded an impressive triple-double with 17 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Davis contributed 22 points and ten rebounds but struggled with a shooting percentage of 7-for-18.
Although Davis currently holds the advantage over Sabonis in terms of points (23.1 to 13.3) and rebounds (9.8 to 9.6) in their head-to-head matchups, the Lithuanian big man has significant leads in field goal percentage (60.8% to 46.2%), three-point percentage (40% to 35.7%), and assists (4.5 to 2.3).
