Goldin Auctions has announced that Kobe Bryant’s 2000 NBA championship ring is up for bidding in their March Elite Sports Auction. Currently, there are seven bids, the highest of which is $54,000. The 14-karat gold ring, adorned with 40 diamonds, was originally gifted by Kobe to his father, Joe Bryant. Bidding will close on March 30 at 10 p.m.
This is not the first time a championship ring belonging to the late NBA legend has been auctioned. In 2020, an identical ring gifted to Kobe’s mother, Pamela Bryant, was sold for $206,000 through Goldin Auctions. Pamela initially sold the ring in 2013 for $280,000 to a private collector.
Goldin Auctions emphasizes that the ring being auctioned is not an executive version but the exact same ring given to Kobe Bryant and other Lakers players. The 2000 championship ring commemorates the Lakers’ victory over the Indiana Pacers in a six-game finals series, marking their first championship since 1988. The Lakers currently share the record for the most NBA titles, with 17, alongside the Boston Celtics.
In addition to Bryant’s championship ring, the March Elite Auction includes other notable items such as a game-worn Bryant jersey from the 2009-10 season, a Golden State Warriors jersey worn by Kevin Durant in 2017, sneakers from Warriors’ guard Stephen Curry, a selection of trading cards featuring a Michael Jordan rookie card, and a 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers ring celebrating the team’s first championship.
Tragically, Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gigi, and seven others lost their lives in a helicopter crаsh in January 2020.
