In a noteworthy performance, LeBron James and Anthony Davis led the Los Angeles Lakers to a commanding 136-105 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night.
Both superstar players of the Lakers recorded double-doubles. James scored 25 points on an impressive 10-of-14 shooting, accompanied by 10 assists and seven rebounds in just 29 minutes of play. Davis contributed 22 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 31 minutes.
This win, combined with the Golden State Warriors’ loss to the New York Knicks, propelled the Lakers back to the ninth seed in the Western Conference play-in tournament, giving them a chance to secure home court advantage.
Fans were quick to applaud the exceptional performances of both Lakers All-Stars as they strive to push the team into the playoff picture with less than four weeks remaining in the regular season. Additionally, D’Angelo Russell played a significant role in the victory, scoring a game-high 27 points, including six three-pointers on 10 attempts, while also contributing 10 assists.
Russell’s six three-pointers matched his combined total from the previous three games. Davis demonstrated no signs of lingering effects from the eye injury he suffered in the first quarter of Saturday’s loss to the Warriors, which forced him to leave the game prematurely.
The Lakers’ defense proved to be formidable, holding the Hawks to a shooting percentage of 42.9% overall and limiting them to just 9-of-41 from beyond the arc. Dejounte Murray struggled, scoring only 13 points and ending the game with a game-worst plus/minus of -25 in 31 minutes.
With matching loss records, the Lakers (37-32) and Warriors (35-32) are tied in the standings, but the Lakers hold a one-game advantage due to two additional victories. The final regular-season matchup between these two teams will take place on April 9 at Crypto.com Arena.
The Lakers’ next game will be at home against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.
