Kyrie Irving Ramadan stats: How did the Dallas Mavericks’ wizard perform during the holy Islamic month?

Kyrie Irving started observing Ramadan for the 2020-21 NBA season. He was with the Brooklyn Nets at the time. It was only one aspect of Kyrie Irving’s memorable time with the Nets. Irving fasts throughout Ramadan and practices Islamic traditions associated with the holiday as part of his commitment to the Muslim faith and personal convictions.

Irving experienced some unforgettable moments during the holy month. Despite fasting, he continues to play despite his low energy levels.

His first season playing while fasting was with the Nets during the COVID-19-shortened 2020-21 season. Irving averaged 26.9 points per game across 54 games.

Ramadan lasted from April 12 to May 12. Because of the changed schedule, Kyrie Irving played all of his regular season games. He played 14 games while fasting and averaged 25.8 points per game. He even recorded 45 points, four assists, and four steals in a loss against the Dallas Mavericks.

The next Ramadan season lasted from April 2 to May 1. Irving was still with the Nets. Irving’s season was up and down, with only 29 games played. Irving played five regular-season games while fasting.

Then, Irving fasted and played in the first round playoff series against the Boston Celtics. His team lost to the Celtics, who advanced to the NBA Finals. Irving’s series averages were 21.3 points per game and 5.3 assists per game.

In the 2022-23 season, the holy month began on March 23 and ended on April 23. Irving was moved from Brooklyn to the Dallas Mavericks. He was shut down at the end of the season when the Mavericks failed to make the playoffs and plummeted. Last season, he played fewer games while fasting.

Irving averaged 24.2 points per game in seven games last season while fasting. During the 2023 Ramadan, his finest effort was 41 points in an overtime loss against the Atlanta Hawks.

This year, Ramadan runs from March 11 until April 9. Kyrie Irving will cease fasting before the playoffs begin. He’s played in five games since beginning his fast.

The highlight, of course, was his amazing lefty floater over Nikola Jokic to beat the Denver Nuggets at the buzzer on St. Patrick’s Day. He scored 24 points in the triumph.
