Luka Doncic announced his engagement to longterm girlfriend Anamaria Goltes on Friday, sharing a romantic photo of him laying the ring on her finger in front of a picturesque backdrop.
Doncic proposed near Lake Bled in Slovenia, sharing the good news with his 8.3 million Instagram followers via a joint post with Goltes.
He kept his caption simple, writing ‘7.7’ – the day’s date – beside a ring emoji and a heart emoji.
The couple had known each other since childhood and began dating as teenagers, with Goltes appearing in Instagram photos with her fiancé as far back as 2017.
The Mavericks star received numerous congratulations from the NBA community in the comments, including LeBron James, who commented, ‘Congrats brother!’
Former teammates Jalen Brunson, Boban Marjanovic, and Spencer Dinwiddie also spoke up, as did current ESPN commentator JJ Redick, who spent his final season with Dallas in 2020-21.
Doncic received congratulations from more than just basketball players.
Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid’s goalkeeper, wrote ‘Felicidades amigo’, which translates as ‘congrats friend’ in Spanish.
Doncic played for Real Madrid’s basketball squad from 2015 to 2018, while Courtois joined the club’s soccer team the same year.

Doncic was brilliant individually last season but his Mavs failed to make the postseason
Taylor Lautner, the star of ‘Twilight’, even congratulated the Slovenian point player.
Doncic is in the midst of a pivotal offseason after his Mavericks missed the playoffs for the first time since his rookie year in 2018-19.
The 24-year-old enjoyed his finest scoring season to date last year, averaging 32.4 points per game, but Dallas plummeted in the standings after the All-Star break.
Doncic, along with Kyrie Irving, who was traded to the team in February and has since committed to stay, will look to return Dallas to the playoffs next season.
