When Kerr first realized Moody was intelligent beyond his years

Warriors guard Moses Moody is well-known among his colleagues for not only his on-court prowess, but also his off-court intelligence, as he consistently offers wise advise in every situation.

His coach, Steve Kerr, recalled on Sunday the first time he noticed how mature the No. 14 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft was, when Moody mentioned a saying during one of their first meetings.

“[Moody] didn’t say anything for the first week of training camp when we had him, not one word,” Kerr said prior of the Warriors’ game against the San Antonio Spurs. “He wasn’t in the rotation, and I didn’t know much about him, so I went to speak with him, and I ended up doing all of the talking, you know. He still didn’t say anything, and I had no idea what was on the other end. I began outlining his problem, and he just nodded. I asked, ‘What do you think?’

“And he thought for a second. He said, “My father always said a smooth ocean does not make a steady sailor.” And I went, ‘Oh my God.’ That was probably the first thing I ever heard him utter. “What a great piece of wisdom…” That’s kind of who Moses is. He’s quite silent. He reminds me a lot of [Kevon Looney], you know. He’s quiet, yet he’s full of insight. He understands the process. When he does not play and slips out of the rotation, he maintains a positive attitude and continues to train. He’s an absolute pro, and it’s only Year 3. So it’s quite stunning.”When Kerr first realized Moody was wise beyond his years - Yahoo Sports

Moody’s wisdom has benefited the Warriors since his maturity has allowed him to remain ready for any role Kerr needs him to play, whether it’s in the starting lineup or off the bench.Moses Moody out for Warriors vs. Bulls - Golden State Of Mind

Moody’s disposition has garnered him accolades from several teammates, including former Warriors player Juan Toscano-Anderson, who says he wants his children to grow up like the young guard, and Chris Paul, who says Moody is one of his favorite teammates he’s ever played with in the NBA.
