Klay Thompson scored 32 points, and the Golden State Warriors dominated the Utah Jazz early on Sunday night, winning 118-110.
Before the game, Houston’s 147-136 overtime loss to Dallas guaranteed the Warriors at least a position in the four-team play-in round.
Thompson came out hunting for his shot from the start, while Stephen Curry was rested and Chris Paul started in his place.
Coach Steve Kerr used his 26th starting lineup combination of the season. Curry had many days off between games due to the break. He has already played in 71 games, his most since 2016-17.
“He needed it, this is the most games he’s played in a long time,” coach Steve Kerr said of the 36-year-old two-time MVP. “It’ll serve him well for next week.”
Reserve Johnny Juzang scored a career-high 27 points, including seven three-pointers, to lead the Jazz to their 12th consecutive loss and 15th in 16. They have not won at Golden State since February 9, 2022. Keyonte George tallied 25 points.
Thompson went 12 for 23 with six 3-pointers and had 25 points by halftime, his best scoring half of the season and the first time he had 25 or more points in the first two quarters since March 13, 2023, when he had 33 against the Suns.
