The Lakers encountered a setback as Anthony Davis was unable to play due to illness. However, LeBron James, despite his own illness, made a return to the court. Despite missing one star player and having the other compromised, the Lakers struggled to keep up with the Warriors and suffered a 134-120 defeat.

The game began with Draymond Green’s successful 3-pointers for the Warriors. Jaxson Hayes responded with a dunk, and LeBron James contributed with a fadeaway shot, giving the Lakers their first lead. LeBron showed his aggression early on, sinking a 3-pointer, but Stephen Curry quickly answered back with a 3-pointer of his own while drawing a foul.

As expected, the Lakers faced difficulties when LeBron went to the bench, while the Warriors maintained their momentum to end the first quarter with a 38-29 lead.

LeBron returned in the second quarter and helped narrow the Lakers’ deficit with layups and a great pass to Russell for another score. However, Green stayed hot for the Warriors, and Andrew Wiggins also contributed with 3-pointers, extending Golden State’s lead to double digits. The Lakers finally found their rhythm from beyond the arc, with Austin Reaves and Spencer Dinwiddie hitting some shots, reducing the deficit to 71-60 at halftime.

The Lakers started the third quarter strong, with Rui Hachimura and LeBron James making significant contributions. After a layup by Reaves, the Warriors called a timeout as their lead dwindled to just six.

However, just like in the first half, the Warriors responded strongly to end the third quarter. Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga found their rhythm from beyond the arc, reestablishing Golden State’s comfortable lead of 106-89 going into the fourth quarter.Warriors shoot the lights out to hold off Lakers

The Lakers made another run at the start of the fourth quarter, scoring nine consecutive points to cut the deficit to eight and forcing the Warriors to call another timeout. But once again, the Warriors had a response, with Chris Paul and Curry hitting back-to-back 3-pointers. Kuminga then made a layup and another 3-pointer, effectively putting the game out of reach as the Lakers were unable to mount a comeback.NBA projections 2022-23 - Win-loss records for Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and every Western Conference team - ESPN
