Two worlds intersected Saturday night when Taylor Swift was mentioned during the WrestleMania 40 broadcast.
Jason Kelce, the popstar’s fiancé Travis’ older brother, made a surprise entrance at the WWE event and assisted Rey Mysterio and Andrade to victory.
And, of course, Swift was mentioned, as she has been on NFL broadcasts throughout the season, despite the fact that the 14-time Grammy Award winner was not in attendance at Lincoln Financial Field.
As Kelce jumped atop the ropes after his spectacular entrance, Peacock commentator Michael Cole said, ‘Isn’t that her brother-in-law?’
Cole was definitely talking to the vocalist, but he assumed she was married to Kelce’s Chiefs star brother, Travis.
WWE made a Taylor Swift reference during Jason Kelce’s WrestleMania performance.
The retired Eagles center made an unexpected cameo at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday.
Swift is dating Kelce’s younger brother, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
As he apologised for his lack of NFL and pop culture knowledge by professing to be a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, his co-host Pat McAfee began singing ’22’, a single from Swift’s fourth album, ‘Red’.
Swift has been dating Travis Kelce since the summer, and the Anti-Hero hitmaker attended 13 of his NFL games last season, including the Super Bowl.
Travis has been spending some quality time with Swift at her $25 million Los Angeles mansion following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory and the conclusion of the most recent leg of her international Eras Tour.
The singer first met Jason and his wife Kylie at the Chiefs’ playoff game against the Buffalo Bills in January, and she and Travis are thought to have flown to Philadelphia to spend Easter weekend with Jason, Kylie, and their three girls.
Kelce, an Eagles star who announced his retirement from the NFL last month, wore an Eagles mask alongside former teammate Lane Johnson as the two surprised Dom Mysterio and prevented him from using a chair against his father, Rey.
Following that, Rey executed a double 619 on Dom and his partner Santos Escobar before frog splashing on Escobar to seal the victory.
Kelce and Johnson then celebrated their triumph in the ring with Rey and Andrade before taking off their Eagles masks.
He and Lane Johnson wore masks and ambushed Dom Mysterio outside the ring.
Jason Kelce posted with wrestling great The Rock following his appearance in the ring.
The Philadelphia couple then stood on the rope, basking in the cheers of their hometown crowd.
The X account of Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Travis, reposted a footage of the scene first posted by WWE.
The account captioned the video, ‘NAME A BETTER TAG TEAM, I’LL WAIT.
Jason was then photographed meeting wrestling legend The Rock backstage.
Wrestlemania was only staged in Philadelphia twice before, the last time in 1999 at the First Union Center (now the Wells Fargo Center).
This time, it was hosted at Lincoln Financial Field, home to the Eagles, with whom Kelce played for 13 seasons.
