Travis Kelce is on his way from the field to the hosting stand! According to Extra, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end will officially host Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, a derivative of the popular Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? game show.
“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” Kelce said in a press statement. “The first program was a huge hit, so introducing a fresh format with everyone’s favorite celebs to the screen will undoubtedly be exciting. I’m just glad to be on the hosting end of the equation and excited to see how these iconic faces hold up.”
“Travis has proven to be an incredible talent on and off the field, and we appreciate the trust he has placed in us with his first foray into television,” said Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals unscripted and targeted programming at Amazon MGM Studios. “His natural, comedic dynamic with our panelists and guests, coupled with some exciting new twists, will keep our global customers coming back week after week.”
The Prime Video show will have competitors leveraging celebrities to help them answer 11 elementary-school-level questions for a chance to win $100,000.
Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, originally hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, premiered on Fox in 2007. The game show aired for four seasons and featured adult participants attempting to answer grade-school-level questions with the assistance of a group of actual elementary school students. In 2019, the show was briefly relaunched on Nickelodeon, with John Cena at the helm.
