The Lakers once again took a lead of over 10 points against Denver. However, unlike the previous three games, LeBron James and his teammates did not allow the opponent to stage a comeback in Game 4.
It wasn’t until the fourth game of the series, with the possibility of elimination looming, that the Los Angeles Lakers showed the form of a team that had won 12 out of their last 15 regular-season games.
With Anthony Davis dominating the boards and rebounding, LeBron James shined on offense, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter (6-8 FG). D’Angelo Russell made a strong comeback after a lackluster performance in Game 3, scoring 21 points in this match.
This all-around effort prevented the Lakers from squandering their lead as they did in the previous three games. They maintained a lead of 8 points or more throughout the third and fourth quarters to secure the overall victory.
LeBron James led Game 4 with 30 points (14-23 FG). Despite committing 6 turnovers, more than half of the Lakers’ total turnovers, he made up for it with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
Anthony Davis followed closely with 25 points, 6 assists, and an impressive 23 rebounds. Davis was the key player for the Lakers in their battle for rebounds against the Denver Nuggets, an area in which the LA team had lost in all three previous games.
D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves each scored 21 points, combining for a total of 10 assists with a shooting efficiency of 15-30 FG. On the Denver Nuggets’ side, Nikola Jokic demonstrated his MVP-level performance with 33 points, 14 assists, and 14 rebounds, securing a triple-double in the playoffs.
Jamal Murray scored 22 points with 5 assists, while Michael Porter Jr. contributed 27 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had a well-rounded performance with 14 points (6-8 FG), 4 steals, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds in 40 minutes.
After narrowing the series to 1-3, the Los Angeles Lakers will travel to the Denver Nuggets’ home court for the next game. Game 5 will take place on Monday
This matchup carries the hope of extending the series by one more game for the Los Angeles Lakers, while the goal for the Denver Nuggets is to eliminate their opponent.
