He was chosen by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft. In a statement given to TMZ, his family expressed their profound sorrow and announced his death, referring to him as their cherished son, Darius Aaron Morris. They shared a post adorned with a purple heart and a photo of Morris celebrating on the basketball court. Morris had a tenure of two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, both with the professional team and its G-League affiliate. Following his time with the Lakers, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers in 2013, and later had brief stints with the Clippers and Grizzlies through 10-day contracts during the same season. His final NBA season was in 2014-15 as a member of the Brooklyn Nets.

Throughout his NBA career, Morris participated in 132 games, starting in 17 of them, all of which took place during the 2012-13 season. He maintained an average of 3.3 points per game, but his most notable performance occurred in the first round of the 2013 playoffs when he scored a career-high of 24 points as a member of the Lakers, playing against the San Antonio Spurs.

Prior to his professional career, Morris excelled at the University of Michigan, where he played for two seasons. During his sophomore year, he set a school record with 235 assists in a single season, although the record has since been surpassed. In the 2010-11 season, he led the team with an average of 15 points per game.
