The Denver Nuggets will still have the services of star Jamal Murray in Game 3 of the 2024 NBA Playoffs Western semi-final series with the Minnesota Timberwolves on May 11 .
Previously, Murray’s appearance in the third match was a big question mark after his inappropriate behavior in the loss in Game 2 to the “Wolves”. The defender was seen throwing a thermal paste onto the field during the match where Denver was blown out by 26 points. Many speculate that Murray may be suspended for Game 3.
Luckily for the Nuggets, that won’t happen. However, Jamal Murray was still fined more than $100,000 by the NBA Council. The NBA announced that “huge” fine on May 7.
“Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray was fined $100,000 for throwing multiple objects at game officials during a live game, it was announced today by Joe Dumars, Vice President of Operations executive, NBA CEO. Murray’s actions took place during the Nuggets’ 106-80 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of their regional semifinal playoff series on May 6 at Ball Arena.”, NBA press release on fine Murray wrote.
Murray and the Nuggets were frustrated throughout the game as the defending NBA champions fell 2-0 in the series. But it cannot justify the Canadian player’s impulsive actions.
Murray scored only 8 points on 3-of-18 shooting for the entire game. It was an underwhelming performance for Murray. As for the $100,000 fine, it is the largest fine given to a player since 2023 after James Harden criticized Philadelphia 76ers head Daryl Morey as a “liar.”
