Zac Efron may have established the athlete-musician stereotype in the film with his appearance as Troy Bolton in High School Musical, but Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are living it in real life.
The Ricky Stanicky actor is now aware of the similarities fans are seeing between the modern-day power couple’s romance and Bolton and Gabriella Montez’s (Vanessa Hudgens’) childhood love story.
“Wow, I didn’t think of it. That’s very cool. “Shout out to all the High School Musical fans,” the 36-year-old said to E! News earlier this week. “I enjoy the entire Travis, Taylor stuff. I’m so thrilled for them. They are two of the best people in the world. “How could you not be excited?”
Tayvis stans and pop culture fans have been connecting all over X (previously known as Twitter).
“The chiefs game and the golden globes being within hours of each other reminds me when Troy and Gabriella had the basketball game and the academic decathlon at the same time as the audition for the school musical,” one fan wrote, referring to the sporting event and award ceremony, both on Jan. 7.
We’re curious what that person would make of the “You Belong With Me” singer flying across the world following consecutive “The Eras Tour” gigs in Tokyo to attend the Super Bowl (which her star tight-end boyfriend won).
Another user said, “They’re so insanely troy & gabriella coded.”
Swift, 34, and Kelce, also 34, first became romantically involved after he saw her perform at Arrowhead Stadium last July. They were formally dating by the time she went to a Kansas City Chiefs game versus the Chicago Bears in September.
