On Sunday, Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray made one of the most difficult shots of the 2024 NBA Playoffs thus far. The crazy bucket also produced one of the coldest photographs of the year.
The Nuggets led the Timberwolves 59-49 with just seconds left in the first half of their Game 4 Western Conference playoff clash at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Michael Porter Jr.’s dunk gave the Nuggets a 61-49 lead with 1.6 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Timberwolves player Nickeil Alexander-Walker threw an inbound pass past the halfcourt line in an attempt to gain his team one more shot.
Murray, however, took home the basketball. Murray fired a desperate shot from three-quarters of the court that miraculously sailed right past the goal.
Murray just happened to be standing next to TNT announcer Kevin Harlan when the shot went in. Murray looked directly into Harlan’s eyes as the seasoned announcer made the call on live television.
The TNT broadcast made the excellent decision to pan the camera right at Murray and Harlan during the spectacular sequence.
Murray’s long-distance connection was huge for Denver, regardless of its complexity. The Timberwolves had trimmed the Nuggets’ 16-point second-quarter lead to seven with less than a minute remaining.
Murray’s shot capped an 8-0 Nuggets run to close the half. The Nuggets dominated the second half, winning 115-107.
Home teams are now 0-4 in the series, as the clubs return to Denver for Game 5.
