Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors’ two-time MVP, visited the country from September 6 to 8 to begin his Under Armour Asian Tour. Curry’s first visit to the Philippines was chosen because, as Under Amour said, “basketball is a way of life in the Philippines.”

The Warriors point guard added, “Coming out of the airport seeing like 250 fans trying to get a picture and something like that is the part that I still want to enjoy,” after being greeted by local supporters at the airport.

Curry expressed his intention to return to the Philippines in a news conference at BGC, citing the encouragement and kind reception he has gotten from Filipino supporters.

Curry took a tour of Manila in a famous Filipino jeepney, which is a popular activity for celebrities visiting the Philippines, including the Pope, Coldplay, and the Riverdale cast.

Curry was also given the opportunity to sample the Filipino “halo-halo” dessert, which consists of shaved ice, yam, and fruits and has even Anthony Bourdain raving about its flavor. This is a must-do activity for visitors to the Philippines.

Curry and his father, Dell Curry, won the Under Armour Southeast Asia 3×3 competition held at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Curry’s final act in the Philippines was to lead the student-athletes in their pledge to sportsmanship during the 81st University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season.
