Travis Kelce was not present for Wednesday’s organised team activities (OTAs), although the Kansas City Chiefs tight end did participate on Monday, according to the team.

Kelce’s absence made headlines on Wednesday, as media members were unable to locate the 34-year-old, who has been known to travel the world with his popstar girlfriend Taylor Swift.

According to images provided by the team on Wednesday, Kelce attended Monday’s optional practice and saw his first action with new teammate Marquise Brown. Team spokespersons did not immediately react to DailyMail.com’s request for additional information. 

Patrick Mahomes, his teammate and quarterback, was at practice on Wednesday, participating in conditioning and throwing drills with new wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Sky Moore.

Kelce’s decision to skip Wednesday’s OTAs has raised eyebrows both inside and beyond the team, given what he said last year about football’s equivalent of baseball’s spring training.

Kelce was seen having a good time at his own musical festival, Kelce Jam, in Kansas City, alongside Mahomes, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, and Diplo.

Prior to that, he joined Swift for a luxurious meal and boat ride in Lake Como, Italy, as the popstar continues her ‘Eras’ Tour of Europe.

Kelce just agreed to a two-year agreement worth up to $34.3 million, according to reports.

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid is expecting for a lot quieter rest of the summer now that the defending Super Bowl winners have returned for a series of optional exercises, culminating in a mandated minicamp in the middle of next month.

Whether it’s the unresolved Dallas car crash involving Rice, the polarising comments made by kicker Harrison Butker, or the NFL’s wild schedule that has Kansas City playing every day of the week except Tuesday, there has been no shortage of headlines involving the Chiefs since their title win in February.

‘Obviously, we don’t want those things to happen,’ Reid added, referring mostly to Rice’s legal problems, ‘but things happen and you learn from them. And you end it. That is what matters.’

Mahomes has been teammates with Butker since 2018, and defended him on Wednesday.

Reid has been the Chiefs’ head coach since 2013, winning three Super Bowls with the squad.

Butker has been under fire for more than a week after some dubbed his graduating speech “sexist.”

The issue involving Rice, one of the breakout players of last season, has caused the most problems for Kansas City.

The 24-year-old is charged with one crime of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury after allegedly driving at speeds approaching 120 mph prior to a catastrophe. The crash in a fast Lamborghini, which Rice acknowledged to driving, involved six automobiles and resulted in several injuries.

One of his pals, Theodore Knox, was driving the Corvette involved in the accident and faces the same allegations. Both are accused of fleeing the scene without providing information or ascertaining whether anyone required medical assistance.

Earlier this week, Dallas police announced that a different case involving Rice had been concluded after a man signed an affidavit of non-prosecution for an incident at a downtown nightclub. The wide receiver was reportedly accused of attacking the man, but Dallas police did not identify Rice in an incident report released to The Associated Press.

Meanwhile, Rice continues to practise with the Chiefs as part of their volunteer workout programme.

Reid stated, “We’ll just let the situation play itself out.”
