Listen, I get why some Celtics supporters would have a victim complex right now. To which I would respond, “How could we not?” Every day, we are under attack from every outlet on the earth. It makes little difference whether they lose, win, blow out teams, or win close games. The media’s broken brains will not stop spewing crap.

 

And listen, if you want to throw shade at Jayson Tatum, claim Jaylen Brown doesn’t have a left hand, label the Celtics a phoney, whatever. While I disagree, you are allowed to your perspective, and I understand that this is all part of the job until they reach the summit of the mountain. I’ll reveal your bad opinions, but I’ve primarily learned to sit back and chuckle.

 
However, there are moments when something crosses your desk that you simply cannot ignore. There comes a time when you have had enough. For those who can’t seem to comprehend why Celtics fans are possibly a little defensive right now, kindly click play.

It’s as if every talk show on the planet has received the memo that if you want to shift the needle, simply insult Celtics supporters with some of the dumbest things ever stated.

Honestly, given how wild the national storylines around the Celtics have been during this postseason run, perhaps this isn’t shocking. Luka was fantastic last night in the Mavs’ Game 1 victory, so you knew there would be a lot of praise for him, and it’s well earned.

But again, I ask, “What the fuck are we doing?”

Is Luka Doncic currently better than Larry Bird? On what planet?

Did I miss the fact that Luka Doncic is a three-time All-NBA defender? Did I miss all those seasons in which Luka was already a three-time MVP? Or the seasons when he was the two-time Finals MVP and three-time champion? Did I miss Luka’s two seasons as a 50-40-90 club member? Did I miss the seasons when Luka finished among the top three in DPOY voting?

The premise Chandler Parsons is attempting to make is ridiculous.

It literally came from his mouth. I’m starting to suspect Parsons has never seen Larry Bird play. That must be the only reason for a stance like this.

Please pardon me if folks are tired of Celts fans pretending as if the media has a hidden purpose. What other team is being discussed in this manner after a win in Game 1 yesterday and now today? There’s only so much gaslighting a person can take, and when you start disparaging Larry Bird of all players, you’ve gone too far.

Surprisingly, No. I admit that I am currently tremendously triggered. Parson’s trolling worked; sue me. I’m only human, after all, and I’ve been on edge for the past 48 hours after dealing with all of this nonsense. When you start throwing shade at Larry Bird with absurd crap, it’s the final nail in the coffin. A bridge too far, if you will.

Yes, Luka is a generational talent. He’s had a fantastic career so far and is on track to become one of the best players the NBA has ever seen. That is entirely accurate.

However, as of 2024, he is not better than Larry Bird. In fact, I’d go so far as to say he’ll never be as good as Larry Bird.

I can only image what happens tomorrow. When will we hear about how Gobert is a better defender and rebounder than Bill Russell? You just know it’s going to happen eventually.
