Luka Doncic received his first Magic Johnson Western Conference finals MVP award on Thursday following the Mavericks’ 124-103 Game 5 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. He finished the series with 36 points, including 20 in the first quarter, which pretty well sealed the game’s outcome early.

He went 14-for-22, including 6-of-10 from three. Doncic also recorded 10 rebounds, five assists, and two steals. The victory helped the Mavericks star overcome the disappointment of not earning the regular season MVP title, which finally went to Nikola Jokic, who earned it for the third time in four years.

Doncic will hope that his trophy collection does not end here and that he can earn the 2024 NBA Finals MVP award by winning the championship to prove his critics wrong.
