Even with elite athletes, golf is a tremendously challenging sport, as Jayson Tatum pointed out to everyone.
For his first-ever pro-am golf event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the Celtics star travelled to Memphis. Tatum had a straightforward objective, and the PGA Tour shared a social media update on his day.
Just hoping I don’t make a fool of myself, Tatum said before to the occasion. “All I want to do today is Һit a few good balls and have some fun.”
Tatum was not the only elite athlete playing with him; this one was a little more at ease with a club. Tatum and Jon Rahm teamed up on the tee box on Wednesday. Rahm is playing in the main PGA tour event this weekend. Tatum loves Rahm more than any other golfer, which makes the occasion both tҺrilling and nerve-wracking.
Tatum remarked, “I couldn’t get any sleep last night when they told me.”
Tatum said that he became comfortable and began to enjoy himself after hitting his first fairway with his tee shot. Despite his limited golfing experience, the NBA player had a great time at his first live tournament.
Seeing how much joy fellow NBA player Stephen Curry has when playing the game—especially when he smacks a hole-in-one in front of an audience—probably doesn’t hurt. Tatum, who played AAU basketball in Memphis for a few years, found playing there to be even more meaningful. Taking everything into account, it appears Tatum achieved his aim of having some fun.
“I had no idea what to anticipate, yet it was laid back and mellow. It was a wonderful experience because of everyone, Tatum stated. “It was a lot of fun because I got to play with Rahm, great guy.”
