Kristaps Porzingis, the recently acquired forward/center for the Boston Celtics, has agreed to a two-year extension worth $96 million, which will expire after the 2025–2026 season.
The team withheld the financial details, but representatives for the All-Star for 2017–18 told ESPN that the $60 million two-year deal is worth. The 2024–2025 season is when the extension begins.
To complete the deal, Porzingis chose to exercise his $36 million player option for the next season.
The 28-year-old Porzingis averaged a career-high 23.2 points per game for the Wizards in their previous campaign.
Along with All-Star colleagues Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics are hoping he plays a major role for the team in the upcoming campaign.
“I think these are the best years for a basketball player,” he told reporters during a recent news conference following his arrival.
“Although you are physically there, your mentаl state is changing.” For me, I believe the effort paid off. My efforts to keep healthy off the court last season paid off as I examined my game, how I could be more effective, and a thorough self-analysis.
