While former Duke basketball star Jason Tatum celebrated his first NBA championship in Boston on Monday night, a little pair of arms wrapped around his torso.
The ESPN broadcast of the Celtics’ Game 5 victory over the Dallas Mavericks featured a close-up of Tatum with his hands on his knees, taking in the occasion. After a moment, his son Deuce popped his head over his father’s shoulder.
The couple, who are often inseparable even during the most meaningless of regular-season games, undoubtedly wanted to spend the next minutes with no one else.
“Daddy!” shouted the younger Tatum, before Jayson turned, hoisted him into the air, and hugged him tightly.
The father and son combination watched as green and white confetti poured down around them, as thousands of Celtics supporters celebrated the occasion. The ESPN camera crew focused on Deuce’s eyes for a few moments as the six-year-old took in the entire spectacle with wide eyes.
