Serbia’s Belgrade (AP) — After being named to Serbia’s 16-man preliminary team for the 2017 Paris Olympics on Monday, superstar Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets put an end to speculation that he will miss the basketball competition.
Because of his extended NBA seasons, the three-time MVP has previously missed a lot of important international events.
However, after the Dallas Mavericks eliminated the previous year’s winners in the postseason, Jokic called off the current NBA season earlier than expected. He and his brothers spent the last three weeks rafting.
Serbian coach Svetislav Pesic released the list, which includes Charlotte Hornets guard Vasilije Micic, Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic, Atlanta Hawks shooter Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Hornets forward Aleksej Pokusevski.
Serbia’s Olympic tournament debut will be on July 28 against the United States.
