LeBron James will play with his son during the 2024-25 NBA season.
The future Hall of Famer is allegedly staying with the Los Angeles Lakers on a two-year, $104 million contract that includes a player option and a no-trade provision. Shams Charania of The Athletic initially reported on the transaction.
James opted out of the final year of his deal before entering NBA free agency, although it was expected that he would return to the Lakers. He was eligible to sign a three-year, $162 million contract with Los Angeles, but he allegedly chose a two-year agreement with a player option, letting him to return to free agency next summer.
The purported new agreement for James comes one day after the Lakers revealed his son, Bronny James, who was drafted with the 55th choice in the 2024 NBA draft. Bronny James is reportedly planning to sign a traditional NBA contract with numerous guaranteed seasons.
LeBron and Bronny James will have the opportunity to become the first father-son duo in NBA history to play in the league together, let alone on the same team.
