Even if Travis Kelce makes a horrible golf swing, he is still Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, as one fan informed him at the 2024 American Century Championship.
The NFL player, who is competing in the celebrity charity tournament at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Nevada from Friday, July 12 to Sunday, July 14, received some words of encouragement after hitting a terrible shot.
In a video released on X (previously Twitter), the 34-year-old athlete swings a golf club at the ball before exclaiming, “Oh no!”
Then a supporter yelled, “It’s okay; you still have Taylor!” The Kansas City Chiefs tight end gestured to the audience and said, “You ain’t lying there.”
Travis Kelce says he’s having the ‘funnest’ year of his life — and reveals if he’ll perform with Taylor Swift again.
The crowd chuckled as he handed up his golf club to a caddie. Kelce waved to the audience before proceeding to his next hole on the course.
The 34-year-old 14-time Grammy winner was on Kelce’s mind when several of her songs aired during the first and second rounds.
Kelce bopped his head and sang along to a remix of Swift’s “Lavender Haze” from her 2022 Midnights album, according to an NBC Sports Bay Area & CA social video.
Other songs played while the footballer prepared to swing his golf club were “Fortnight” from her 2024 album, The Torture Poet’s Department, and “Love Story” from her 2008 Fearless album.

Swift, who was unable to attend due to her global Eras Tour, showed her support for him this week by like a pair of Instagram photos celebrating her boyfriend being named the NFL’s top tight end.
The rankings presented on ESPN NFL’s Instagram were generated based on questionnaires distributed to league executives, coaches, and scouts, and they identified the top ten players in 11 different NFL positions. The Kansas City Chiefs also celebrated the achievement on Instagram, which Swift also liked.
