Svetislav Pešić rested captain Bogdan Bogdanović, while Dušan Ristic and Uroš Plavšić did not play. In these practice matches, Ognjen Jaramaz, Aleksa Radanov, and Aleksej Pokushevski played the first few minutes. Soul
This was not the game we expected to see. Our squad began the battle a little slowly and responded to the difficulties posed by the opponent. There were ups and downs, varied minutes, and different players who worked harder at different times, but the way the game was set up made it evident that the selection was still experimenting. The most significant thing for us was that we saw a team game with a few players taking initiative.
Vasilije Micić was crucial to our team’s rhythm throughout games. He joined the lines wonderfully, and his exits from the field were still noticeable. He set the tone from the start, and the Australians, fueled by youth and experience, gained the lead, leading to a plus score that they maintained until the final minute of the first half (20:15).
Petty Mills scored three triples, and Josh Giddy played his game. Our troops did not let the opponent get too far, and he took advantage of every opportunity to score quick points.
On the other hand, the Eagles only began converting their transition opportunities into points in the second quarter, despite the fact that they might have done it sooner thanks to the defence. Aleksa Avramović distinguished out for his defensive contributions.
It should have taken Serbia around 15 minutes for both teams to play their games, but when that happened, the opponent’s gains were easily reversed. Vanja Marinković and Avramović completed the counterattack with two attacks in 40:39.
In the sequel, both teams played far more brazenly. Jokić’s aggressive play caused the opponent’s defence to focus more on him, allowing for new combinations between Micić and Petrušev. Without being forced, the best centre in the world adjusted his job, so he continued to shoot baskets, with no one to answer on the other end. He did not shine from the free throw line, which was the one shortcoming in his game, but he compensated as much as the team required.
Marinković departed the game in the 25th minute after being hit in the hip. The extent of his injury is unknown and will be determined later.
The Australians’ game came down to Giddy and Mills, whilst our composition had duties separated.
