Travis Kelce shoved George Karlaftis, a Kansas City Chiefs defensive end, after the latter hit Kadarius Toney during training camp.
The argument started on Wednesday, July 24, when George, 23, pushed wide receiver Kadarius, 25, to the ground with a dubious hit during the Chiefs’ fourth day of training camp. Travis, 34, raced over as Kadarius violently hurled his football at George.
Travis was plainly upset with George and confronted him, as a whistle blew to keep the participants under control during the non-padded practice. The players’ helmets collided before Travis shoved George. Fortunately, their altercation was resolved before it could progress further.
According to PJ Green of Fox 4 News Kansas City, head coach Andy Reid “spoke with Toney as he walked by.” However, “not a big fuss was made” and the players resumed their practice.
The current training camp comes after Travis inked a two-year contract deal for $34.25 million in April. The 2024-2025 season will be his 11th with the Chiefs, and he is likely looking to win his third consecutive Super Bowl with the squad.
The Ohio native has been known to lose control of his emotions during games, and he previously made news for yelling in Andy’s face at Super Bowl LVIII in February. When the Chiefs were trailing the San Francisco 49ers, cameras showed Travis visibly furious as he got in his coach’s face and appeared to shove him. Despite falling down, the squad eventually caught up with the 49ers and won the game.
Travis received flak from the public for his attitude, but Andy, 66, told reporters that the tight end’s antics were the result of a “emotional” day.
“He enjoys playing the game and wants to help his team win, and it is not a selfish desire. It sounds like it is, and I get it,” Andy said after the game. “You know, when he runs into me, I chase him down, and we both know it. He just knocked me off balance.”
When ESPN’s Booger McFarland urged Travis to explain what he was telling Andy, he argued that the encounter was no big deal. “Man, I’m going to keep this between ourselves. “I was just telling him how much I love him,” he explained.
Travis has returned to training camp after touring the world to support girlfriend Taylor Swift on her Eras tour. While many fans have grown to adore their romance, an insider exclusively told Life & Style that Travis has evolved and is no longer as down-to-earth as he once was.
“He’s traveling by private jet, wearing the occasional bling, buying designer suits and splurging on grooming like he’s Brad Pitt,” a source told me on July 24. “He’s enjoying life to the fullest.”
The insider claimed that his pals have observed a shift in his conduct as he has begun to live a more opulent lifestyle. “He’s nothing like the guy they used to know,” the source explained.”He used to be much more humble, which was part of his charm.”
