After Team USA defeated Serbia, Steve Kerr said he ‘felt like an idiot’ for not starting Jayson Tatum

Thanks in large part to Jayson Tatum, Team USA defeated Serbia handily in their opening Olympic match. After the team’s lopsided victory, Steve Kerr, the head coach of the club, was questioned about his unexpecteԀ choice to start Tatum on the bench the whole game.

Jayson Tatum handled things expertly. Before the game, I spoke with him about how things might go with Kevin [Durant] returning,” Kerr said to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. “I felt like an idiot not playing him.”

“I chose the combinations that made sense,” Kerr said in a follow-up interview with reporters.

Kerr emphasised that Tatum handled the circumstance “well” and gave her word that he will “make his mark.”
