Travis Kelce has already secured a new support system ahead of the 2024-2025 NFL season!

At the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp on Sunday, July 28, the 34-year-old tight end was feted by supporters of both his team and his girlfriend, pop diva Taylor Swift. Crowds of Swifties gathered at the St. Joseph, Mo., camp venue to support Kelce and other players during an autograph day.

Among the Swift fans who showed up to support Kelce, one group flew down from Dallas to root on the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Terah Lee, a fan who makes Taylor Swift T-shirts for a living, arrived dressed in a “Go Taylor’s boyfriend!” shirt and sunglasses made by a friend with “So High School” friendship bracelet charms spelling out the Tortured Poets Department song title, which fans have speculated is about the NFL star.

“I’m obsessed with football obviously, and I’m obsessed with Taylor Swift,” Lee told the publication PEOPLE. “I think it’s awesome [that fans are showing up]. I don’t think anyone expected these two fandoms to come together.”

Giovanna, a Taylor Swift fan, developed the “So High School” eyeglasses, which were among the many DIY Swiftie shows of support during the Kansas City Chiefs training camp on July 28. Riley Atkinson

Rebecca Jones, another Swiftie, arrived at camp wearing a Chiefs jersey with the word “Traylor” on the back, which is a combination of the names Travis and Taylor. Jones told PEOPLE that the couple’s relationship has been a “positive thing for everyone to look at” and that she hopes “their love continues to blossom.”

“I think it shows how dedicated Swiftie fans are,” said fan Giovanna, who designed her friend’s personalised sunglasses. “I feel like the Swifties are going to do anything to show their support, even if it’s on the hot side out here.”

Hannah Calhoun, 16, told PEOPLE that she drove all the way to the training camp from Lexington, Kentucky, with her parents only to see Kelce. She even came prepared, with arms full of friendship bracelets and a sign that stated, “Travis, I have a blank space, so come write your name.”

“I love Taylor and I think she’s a terrific role model and so I love that my daughter has her to look forward to and so we thought, ‘Let’s do this, Let’s go out and watch Travis Kelce,'” Alison, Hannah’s mother, said. “

Aside from the many Swifties in attendance, some long-time Chiefs supporters recognised the buzz that Swift has helped create for the league and the organisation. Kelli Anderson, a Chiefs fan who has “lived here my whole life,” told PEOPLE she has been a Kelce fan since before he began dating Swift, 34.

“I just think it’s really cool that he’s bringing so much attention to Kansas City and I just love the two of them together and enjoy watching their love story unfold,” Anderson told the newspaper. “It’s cool that the rest of the world is starting to appreciate the Chiefs.”

Kelce and the Chiefs will practise at Missouri Western State University from 21 July to 15 August in preparation for the next NFL season, which follows their win in Super Bowl LVIII in February.

The Chiefs will face the Jacksonville Jaguars in a preseason kickoff game on August 10, before the regular season begins on September 5 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Kelce had a good time with Swift throughout the offseason before training camp. Notably, he’s seen the singer perform her Eras Tour around Europe, including Paris, Amsterdam, and London, where he took the stage during one of her outfit changes.

During her Tortured Poets Department set in London, he stood in for a backup dancer, playing his role as boyfriend by transporting her to a crimson sofa in the centre of the stage while dressed in a tuxedo and top hat.

Aside from supporting one other’s careers, the two have vacationed together in their spare time, visiting the Bahamas in March and heading on a romantic holiday to Italy in May.
